Athlon Solutions Acquires Chemical Production Plant in Bayport

11/6/13 – Athlon Solutions has announced the purchase of a thirty-six acre chemical plant in Bayport Texas from Clear Lake Chemicals. “With this purchase, we have significantly added to our existing manufacturing base in Louisiana. The Bayport facility will expand our capability to make complex multistep reactions including amines, imadozolines, quats, oxyalkylation, alkyl resins, surfactants, TOFA, alkyl pyridines and nonylphenols” said Jim Arrajj, Vice President Supply Chain for Athlon Solutions

“This acquisition represents a great benefit to our customers by allowing us to both secure our future supply chain and provide robust in-house capability for creating innovative new products, continuing our tradition of industry leadership in specialty chemical R&D” said company President Tom Amonett. “It further underscores our owner’s commitment to the success of Athlon Solutions and its customers. It is a major step in realizing our aspiration to be the technical solutions provider of choice in our selected markets in the global downstream specialty chemicals marketplace” he added.

Addressing the acquisition Michael McShan, VP Sales and Field Services stated “When we were spun off from Champion Technologies in the merger with Ecolab this past April, the exclusive rights to all our heritage products, manufacturing techniques and IP were transferred to us. Our primary manufacturing goal since then has been to build a capability that can fully serve the future needs of our customers. Being a basic producer of specialty chemicals is in our DNA. We are planning additional investment in both our people and manufacturing plants in order to keep pace with the market demand for our unique products and services”.

This facility is located in an industrialized area of Bayport that facilitates safe and ready access to raw materials and both land and sea logistics.

Athlon Solutions is a supplier of specialty chemicals and engineered services in the downstream process, water and finished fuel areas. Some of its larger customer segments include oil refineries, petrochemical plants, basic chemical plants, power plants, agricultural chemical plants and finished petroleum fuels.
